Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book on to a session?

If you’d like to book on to a session, or on to any of our events, then head over to our ‘what’s on’ page for more details and availability.

Is there an option to book a one-off forest school session, or do I have to sign up for a term?

Most of our sessions are offered as a block booking because we understand the long-term benefits of spending time in nature, helping little ones to establish a relationship with the world around them and develop deep rooted learning. However, where possible we do offer one off spaces, keep an eye on our ‘what’s on’ page for more details and availability.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains, we play! We are firm believers that getting outside in all weather is a fantastic sensory experience and it really helps to build a child’s physical development, creativity skills and resilience.

What happens if a session is cancelled?

We only ever cancel a session if it is unsafe to run due to extreme weather conditions such as high winds or thunder and lightning. If a session is cancelled the cost of that session will be refunded.

Are there any facilities on site?

Parking and toilet facilities are available on site. Basic snacks and refreshments are provided, however please do feel free to bring extra provisions!

What should I wear?

During the cold months make sure to layer up! Start with a base layer, a long sleeve top and leggings, then a mid-layer such as a fleece and jogging bottoms, then finally a waterproof outer-layer, such as a puddle suit. It’s often a good idea to layer up on socks (especially if wearing welly boots) and bring extra pairs of gloves and a hat.

During the warmer months, please make sure to dress your child in a light long sleeve top and leggings, to avoid possible stings and scratches to the skin in the woods. Please remember sun cream and a sun hat. You’re welcome to bring a spare t-shirt and shorts to change in to after the session. Please also wear old trainers or hard-wearing shoes / boots, (crocs and flip flops, although are very cool, aren’t always the best for climbing or balancing!)

Do I need to purchase a ticket for adults and children?

Only children need a ticket (adults can get involved in all the fun for free!)

Can siblings come along?

Non walking siblings in a sling or buggy are welcome to attend free for charge, however walking siblings will need to have a paying ticket. If you need to bring an additional child who is walking, please get in touch at hello@hogletandtwig.com

Can additional adults attend?

Additional adults are free to attend, however we try to limit 2 adults per child.
